A Marsh Owl was found hooked by its wing on a barbwire fence on the N4 Hoedspruit. Its wing was broken and still had a bit of the wire stuck in its wing when it had to be cut away from the fence. As you can see in the photo it was not a good sight. How long this poor bird hung on this fence we will never know. Unfortunately, due to all the stress it had been through, we found it lying dead in the box the next day. It was a very sad situation all round as Marsh owls are not common in this area. We also show a photo of what the bird looks like in normal conditions.
