At the beginning of June a young porcupine was brought to us from a local farmer, she was estimated to be about 2 months old and found wandering alone.
Porcupines usually wean at about 3 months old so this little one was still too young to be on her own just yet. Nikita has taken on role of mum and has been feeding her every two hours to ensure that she gets the right volume of milk and also so that baby becomes used to Nikita to prevent feeding times being too stressful. She is old enough to be eating solids so along with her milk she has been enjoying a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. Fingers crossed our new spikey edition continues to do well and grow up healthy!
